Shaw Contract has introduced a new carpet tile collection called Simply in Motion, designed to create a visual movement effect through layered textures, gradual tonal gradations, and dimensional patterns. The 24 x 24 inch tiles come in three distinct styles, part of the company’s No Rules offering that allows flexible installation configurations.
Design Features and Patterns
The collection includes Drifted Grids, which features a pixelated pattern with subtle texture variations and scale shifts to create both structure and steady movement. Shifted presents a cleaner, more understated appearance with small-scale textures and gentle patterning. Multilayered combines geometric impressions with flowing block patterns. Color options include Warm Linen, Quiet Sand, Fog Motion, and Dimensional State, each designed to complement the collection’s aesthetic.
According to Reesie Duncan, vice president of global design at Shaw Contract, the design draws movement from texture and tonal variations rather than loud graphics. “It reads calmly from across the room and keeps revealing more detail as you get closer,” Duncan explained. The No Rules approach ensures the design remains effective even as spaces evolve and tiles are replaced over time.
Installation and Maintenance Benefits
The flexible No Rules design allows tiles to be placed in any orientation, which they state can help reduce installation time and labor costs. Facility teams can replace individual tiles without needing to match original orientations, and mergeable dye lots ensure future orders blend seamlessly with existing flooring.

Simply in Motion coordinates with its Solace 4 mm wood-look luxury vinyl tile collection, enabling smooth transitions between carpet and hard surfaces without the need for transition strips. The tiles use PVC-free StrataWorx backing with 25% pre-consumer recycled content and EcoSolution Q100 nylon sourced from 100% recycled pre-consumer materials, contributing to a low carbon footprint according to the EC3 tool.
Environmental and Availability Details
The collection holds Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver status and Living Building Challenge Red List Approved designation, along with Green Label Plus certification for indoor air quality. Environmental documentation includes a third-party-verified Environmental Product Declaration and Health Product Disclosure. They state the tiles are carbon neutral and produced in a facility that operates under carbon-neutral standards.
At the end of their lifecycle, the company reclaims tiles through its Environmental Guarantee program, utilizing reclaimed materials to manufacture new EcoWorx carpet products. Since 2006, Shaw Contract has successfully reclaimed and recycled nearly 1 billion pounds of post-consumer flooring. Simply in Motion is available for order now, with all three styles offered through Quick Ship in select colors, shipping within two weeks for orders up to 2,500 square yards.
