Educational Reform And Development In Jiangsu Province The Key To Successful Education In China
We are trainee teachers from P4tk PKn IPS who are given the opportunity to continue to be enthusiastic about participating in training at the China University of Mining and Technology even though we always have to deal with very cold temperatures ranging below 10 degrees. We have been studying for eight days in China, which is very famous for its population, which is the largest in the world. However, the very large population in China is able to be balanced with the rapid level of educational development so that it can be on par with other developed countries. We got the development of education in China in a lecture on Educational Reform and Development in Jianhgsu, China.
The development of Education Info in China, especially vocational education, has started since the days of the Ching dynasty and has continued to develop until now. China is a country that does not shut itself off from the influence of other countries because the development of education in China since the reign of the Ching dynasty has adopted from the French state. In addition, the development of education in China is also carried out by studying in European countries with an emphasis on vocational subjects.
Jiangsu Province is well-known as a city that places great emphasis on learning education and tests or exams for entering schools in higher education, in contrast to other cities in China. Regarding the development of education in the city of Jiangsu, the government emphasizes the existence of:
- Patriotism / nationalism, both from students, teachers, school principals, and all related things
- Providing opportunities for common people or the common people to receive education
- Motivation and creativity in facing the era of globalism which demands change.
The Chinese state is not ashamed to imitate the development of education in other countries. In addition to adopting education in France, China has also adopted education in Japan, Germany, Russia and the United States. Regarding the challenges of the online market, China is trying to immediately upgrade its capabilities for educational advancement. There are three passions in the education system in China, namely:
- For social development
- For the development of student needs
- For diversity in society
In connection with the development of education in China in general and in Jiangsu in particular, it is emphasized that education has two functions, namely preparing and animating. The thought of education in China is broader meaning that education is not just learning and dwelling on what is learned, but there must be much more that can be done. In education and learning reform, teachers, especially vocational teachers, were formerly held by masters (the elite). In its development there was a shift because previously the masters did not have a background in teaching skills and academic abilities so that it became a challenge for old teachers. Teachers are obliged to make updates by mastering the theory and teaching styles so that they can liven up the class and their students.
Education in China is experiencing rapid development so that it is equal to other developed countries such as Japan and in Western Europe driven by several factors as follows:
- Really learn from the cooperation that has been carried out since 1920 by imitating (imitating), developing better and continuing to be developed.
- Using international standards, such as using Washington standards and and Sedney standards.
In this regard, the government has paid attention by assigning several universities to become models. In this case, the government appointed Jiangsu to be the model education and the backbone of change. The development of education in Jiangsu (China) continues to be carried out by increasing teacher motivation to be aware of their responsibilities and increase creativity. The foremost or important thing and must have teachers in China and is the existence of “Love and Respect”. This feeling of love and respect combines with meaningful learning with engaging learning. Thus, learning will easily enter so that the teacher does not only deliver material but can be an initiator of change.
China has its own style and is very confident in developing education. There are three things that hold onto as a Chinese, namely:
- Culture, China greatly exalts its own culture so that Chinese culture is very strongly rooted in people’s lives
- Nation (nation), the Chinese nation has a strong bond and has the ambition to live together in a sovereign system of government
- Country (nationality), the feeling of the Chinese people as citizens of the same country and nation even though there are many different ethnicities and tribes
The Chinese nation combines these three handles in order to face globalization. The government also seeks actions to prevent globalization from being eroded by paying attention to education with the world of work so that the competencies needed by the world of work are in accordance with the standards set by the government.
Seeing the development of education and learning in China is very interesting for us to adopt. The adoption of education in a country that has made education a major factor in changing the country is not something to be embarrassed about. We as teacher learners as well as agents of change in education in Indonesia can observe the education system that has developed in China, then we imitate (imitation) which of course is adapted to the character and culture of the Indonesian people. Followed by modifying, meaning that teachers are required to play a role in increasing creativity to always modify and develop education and learning that has been learned in other countries, such as education in China.
A very valuable lesson that we can take, is that teachers must provide learning services based on love and respect. In addition, by adhering to culture, state and nationality, teachers are expected to succeed in bringing about educational changes which are expected to help deliver a golden generation in Indonesia who has high competence to be able to compete in the era of globalization and be able to build the Indonesian nation into a more advanced nation.
